What's Happening

Over the past 18 months, the community has seen many positive developments. Three areas stand out:
· Turnover on the HOA and ECC boards has reversed several harmful policies and improved resident and member engagement.
· The HOA Board listened to residents and placed the 10 requested amendments on the ballot for the upcoming annual meeting.
· Property sales have rebounded, contributing to Eastpointe’s ongoing transformation.
Both boards have experienced significant turnover during the past two election cycles, a positive development for the community. Many residents will recall the dispute between the HOA Board and residents over approval of the last bipartisan agreement. In response, 247 residents submitted a petition seeking changes to Eastpointe’s governing documents to align them with Florida statutes and clarify language that could be misinterpreted by the Board. Although the previous Board did not act on the petition, the new Board is more receptive and is working with residents to address their concerns.
Following the HOA Board’s turnover, the current Board has been more responsive and agreed to place our 10 proposed amendments on the ballot for residents to approve or reject at the next annual meeting. This has reduced the likelihood of continued conflict or legal action. The amendments are available on the tab above, and I will email additional information to the 247 residents.
The HOA also plans to introduce electronic voting before the next annual meeting. This important step will allow residents to respond to surveys and vote on community matters from nearly anywhere using a computer, tablet, or phone.
The HOA Board is also working with the club to address concerns raised by Resident Social Members about perceived ECC Board overreach. We have strongly advocated replacing the current bipartisan agreement with provisions that protect residents and members while improving their membership experience. Several issues affecting the relationship between the HOA and ECC boards still need to be resolved. Many residents believe the ECC Board is influenced by outside members who do not fully understand the community’s needs. As a result, some policies are viewed by golfers and Resident Social Members as contrary to the community’s best interests. I have proposed several ECC policy changes that many residents strongly support. Both boards include reasonable people who should work together to resolve these concerns. Finally, Eastpointe is undergoing a significant transformation. In addition to 75 new homes being built in the Reserve, many older homes on larger lots have been purchased, demolished, and replaced with larger new residences. Younger residents are moving in, changing the community’s demographics. I see this as a positive development, similar to successful neighborhood transformations many of us experienced up North before moving to Florida.
I am optimistic about the direction of the community and club, and I encourage everyone to participate and enjoy life in our little paradise.
